3 ships collided in Sydney

3 ships have been involved in an accident on Tuesday night at Sydney’s commercial port due to severe weather conditions.
Super storm hit the city and snapped the mooring lines of the 4,600-teu MV Kiel Express (built 1991), causing it to collide with another ship and shear the mooring lines of a third. Hapag Lloyd vessel cut the moorings of an OOCL-owned ship as winds reached 126km/h.
4,150-teu MV Safmarine Makutu (built 2007), took a hit from the stern of MV Kiel Express, which then swung around to collide side by side with the other ship.
Due to the extreme weather, some of the tugs that came into assistance found themselves at risk of being caught between the boxships. The ships appeared to have suffered only superficial damage. No injury or environmental pollution has been reported.
