Evangelos Marinakis attack stopped by Greek police

Greek authorities have detained a suspect who was likely planning attacks against the Union of Greek Shipowners and Capital Product Partners chairman Evangelos Marinakis. Police found hand-written notes in the suspect’s possession, which contained “detailled information” on Marinakis’s home, place of work and company, Public Order Minister Vassilis Kikilias said in a press conference. The notes also contained the telephone numbers of the Union of Greek Shipowners (UGS), Kikilias said. Police linked the detained suspect to a left-wing militia group under the leadership of Greek urban guerilla Nikos Maziotis, who was arrested  earlier this year in a shoot-out with police in broad daylight in the Athens tourist district of Plaka.
