12 crew have been taken from a general cargoship MV Fortuna S that sank after grounding outside the Romanian port of Sulina. Captain of the 3,400-dwt Moldovian-flagged MV Fortuna S (built 1970) asked to enter the port on 7 October to shelter from a storm. 2 pilots boarded to bring the MV Fortuna S in, but ship got stuck 30 metres outside the harbour on a sandbank. Later MV Fortuna S started to list, before partially submerging. All crew members safely evacuated from MV Fortuna S.
MV Fortuna S was loaded with 2,600 tons of salt and was bound for Galati.
