Panama Canal, key waterway, registered 326.8m Panama Canal tons (PC/UMS) in the period, compared to 320.6m PC/UMS tons in 2013.
Panama Canal increase was mainly driven by bulkers, which saw an 18.2% spike at 85.9m PC/UMS tons, up from 72.7m PC/UMS tons in 2012/13.
The dynamic movement of bulk through the Panama Canal in the last year is attributed to the surge in grain cargo flows from the US Gulf to Asia.
