Port Kembla - Australia closed because of weather

50 knot winds have brought shipping to a halt at Port Kembla - Australia’s second largest coal export facility. All harbour movements were halted at the New South Wales port at 2015 hours local time on Tuesday due to the extreme weather.
Port Kembla’s anchorage was closed to shipping yesterday, and all vessels were directed to sea. The anchorage remains closed until further notice. Port Kembla is the closest specialist industrial port to Sydney and is traditionally a bulk goods port handling iron ore and coal.
Recent years Port Kembla has diversified its trade base to include general and break bulk cargoes, containers and motor vehicle imports.
Port Kembla is also the principal grain export facility for producers in Southern and South-Western New South Wales.
