CHARTERING - Panamax
The week started slowly with bank holiday in London and few fresh requirements, especially for normal trans Atlantic and trans pacific cargoes. So both basis are now sliding slowly downwards again as the tonnage lists are growing. In the Atlantic the round voyage is still paying around USD 6500 and in the Pacific you get just below USD 5000. On the fronthaul on the other hand we see increasing activity in the north Atlantic, so we expect a small uptick on this route. Today owners can get around USD 16000 for a fronthaul. The period market is very quiet, little has been done as the spread between bid/ask is wide. Many owners expect they can get above 10k for 1 year period with feast delivery, while charterers are talking around or below 9k.
