Karadeniz deploy one of its giant floating powerships to Gaza

According to Reuters, Karadeniz is responding to a request from Palestinian authorities and it plans to send one of its self-propelled floating power stations to the troubled area as soon as all approvals have been obtained and Gaza’s port facilities have been upgraded to accept the ship.

Gaza has been facing serious power shortages since Israel began military operations against fighters loyal to Islamist group Hamas in early July. Much of Gaza’s infrastructure has been destroyed and an estimated 2000 civilian lives lost.

Karadeniz is the world’s only manufacturer of self-propelled floating power stations, most of which have been converted from commercial ships such as tankers, bulk carriers and ro-ro ships. It presently has seven ships in its fleet, capable of producing a combined total of 1,200 megawatts.
