MV Ulusoy 12 (79,000-dwt) loaded bulker drifted into the shipping channel at Gladstone in Australia after its mooring lines parted. The ship was taking its cargo on board when the incident occurred on Thursday.
MV Ulusoy 12 (79,000-dwt) was almost finished loading at Barney Point Coal Terminal when the vessel's mooring lines parted and the vessel drifted away from the berth and into the shipping channel," a Gladstone Ports spokesperson said.
"The vessel touched bottom, dropped anchor and did not continue to drift further into the shipping channel. GPC understands that no one was injured in the incident and no pollution of surrounding environs occurred." 4 tugs were brought in to assist the vessel.
