Greece’s biggest shipping fleets contain just a tiny share of ships built before 1999. “The 15-19 years and 20+ years have virtually disappeared,” the Athens-based analyst wrote, referring to Greek companies which run a fleet of at least five vessels and account for about 90 percent of total Greek tonnage.
"Even companies operating just one to four ships, the category usually associated with old vessels, are slowly shaking off that image"
Pre-1999-built ships account for just over a third (1/3) of small Greek companies’ total tonnage of 28.7 million dwt.
