Mexican salt exporting giant Exportadora de Sal SA de CV (ESSA) has placed an eco newbuilding order in China.
Mexican salt exporting giant Exportadora de Sal SA de CV (ESSA) ordered a shallow-draft, 15,000 dwt vessel will be one of the most environmentally friendly ship types in the world. Delivery of the newbuilding is set for the first half of 2016 from Chinese yard.
The vessel will serve ESSA’s export facility in Mexico’s Guerrero Negro region, which is inside The Great Biosphere Reserve of El Vizcaino. ESSA director Daniel Couttolenc said: “This advanced eco-vessel type will further reduce the impact of operations and help safeguard the delicate eco-system of the Guerrero Negro area while still supporting ESSA's business activities, which are key to the economic development of the local community.”
