China's Shandong province, one of the country's biggest steel producing regions, will shed more than 10 million tonnes of crude steel capacity this year in order to cut pollution. As part of a coordinated effort to tackle air pollution in the heavy industrial provinces of northern China, Shandong will cap annual crude steel production at 50 million tonnes by the end of this year.
