Rains trigger early flowering across Brazil coffee belt

Widespread rains that passed through southeastern Brazil earlier in September set off the first wave of flowering in the coffee belt, which marks the start of fruit formation for the 2016 harvest. After two years of disappointing harvest outputs from the world's leading exporter of coffee due to drought, markets will be watching the formation of the new crop with attention as global stocks and supplies of the commodity will put pressure on prices in the coming months.
