Diana bulker fixed to Cargill on $1.8m deal

A Diana Shipping kamsarmax is set for a reduction in earnings after it was locked into a new time charter with Cargill. New York-listed Diana says the 82,100-dwt Myrto (built 2013) has been taken by the trader for 11 to 13 months. A rate of $6,000 per day has been agreed for the ship, with total revenue from the contract running to $1.8m. The rate is well above the present spot market level for such ships, but down from the $9,850 per day the vessel was earning from its previous charter with Glencore.
