Stowaway jumped from MV Skaftafell

Stowaway has died after jumping from a Briese cargoship MV Skaftafell in the North Sea. Dutch reports said the Nigerian man plunged from the 4,900-dwt MV Skaftafell (built 1997) on the evening of 3 October 2014. Nigerian man was still conscious after being picked up by coast guards, but he died in hospital in Rotterdam. Nigerian man had been discovered by crew in the afternoon while the vessel was anchored off the Hook of Holland. The Nigerian man was placed in a room, but disappeared some time in the next six hours, taking a lifejacket. He was found in the sea two hours later.
