Diana Shipping extended charters

Greek bulker operator Diana Shipping has lined up a pair of time charter extensions that reflect its ongoing penchant for period deals.
New York-quoted Diana said Clearlake Shipping of Singapore has locked in the 82,100-dwt MV Myrsini (built 2010) for up to 14 months. The kamsarmax is poised to rake in $8,250 per day, less a 4.75% commission paid to third parties, over the course of deal that is scheduled to start next week.
Clearlake Shipping of Singapore which is an affiliate of the Gunvor Group, fixed the 164,200-dwt Norfolk (built 2002) for another 13 to 17 months as well. The cape commanded a day rate that amounts to roughly $10,250, less a 4.75% commission, in a contract that is due to commence on 26 February.
Diana Shipping has lined up a number of period deals in recent weeks given the grim forecast for the future of the dry-bulk market.
