US Coast Guard busted $23m in cocaine today in Miami Beach in a merchant cargoship.
US Coast Guard seized the 719 grams of the illegal drug last week from the 1,250-dwt general cargoship MV Borocho (built 1977).
US authorities have seized cocaine with a wholesale value of nearly $105m from cargoships in recent weeks and both Panamanian-flagged general cargoships.
US Coast Guard told “Our goal is to prevent illegal drugs from reaching American shores and to reduce the destabilization effects they have on our neighboring countries in Central America,” he said. “We will continue to lawfully stop and search vessels we suspect may be involved in maritime illicit trafficking.”
