Equity analyst Omar Nokta told "It was an easy decision to link up with the financial arm of the world's largest shipbrokerage when the opportunity came his way in June."
Omar Nokta spoke moments after launching coverage of 37 owners across six sectors: crude, clean products, liquified petroleum gas, liquified natural gas, dry bulk and container. Omar Nokta starts the job with one associate in New York office , but says Clarkson Capital Markets (CCM) has ambitions to build the staff.
"We're fairly optimistic about crude going into the winter" Omar Nokta said. "And we're really starting to get excited on containers. They've been through a rough time the past few years.
"But we're starting to see signs of a recovery. Charter rates are beginning to show signs of life and we feel it's the beginning of a much larger rebound." Omar Nokta said.
Omar Nokta's analyst license was transferred from his previous firm, Global Hunter Securities, earlier this month. He began working from Clarksons' New York offices on Wednesday.
