Brazil crushes 44 pct more new crop cane than last year

Brazil's center-south crushed 5.4 mln tonnes of new crop cane by April 1, up 44 pct from year ago. The main center-south region produced 152,800 tonnes of sugar and 231.6 million liters of ethanol over the period. April 1 is the official start of the new 2015/2016 season but mills started crushing early this year.
